2018 Frances W. Camper Award

Mr. Robert Camper presents Cadet Mikayla Shuflat (left) and Cadet Bethany King (right) with the Frances W. Camper Award.

Two library cadet assistants received this year’s Frances W. Camper Award on Monday, April 30, in the Turman Room.  Cadet Bethany King worked in User Services and served this past year as Preston Library’s Head Library Cadet Assistant.  Cadet Mikalya Shuflat worked for the past three years in Technical Services.  They were presented with the award by Mr. Camper, son of Mrs. Frances W. Camper.  The Friends of Preston Library created this award to recognize library cadet assistants for outstanding leadership and service to Preston Library and to fellow cadet library users.

The award’s namesake, Mrs. Frances Camper was a great teacher and role model for library cadet assistants.  Cadets King and Shuflat received a certificate and cash award.  Cadet King, Biology major, will be attending dental school after graduation.  Cadet Shuflat, Applied Mathematics major, will be reporting to TBS Marine Corps on June 11, and later attending flight school.  We wish all the best to these outstanding cadets!
